Yahoo Answers is a source of very targeted traffic that many marketers overlook. The basic principle of Yahoo Answers is that people ask questions and other people answer them. Think of it as an advice board, if you like. Some of the questions are bizarre, and some are just normal question.
The quality of answers varies too from the single sentence, to the some being pretty useless answer. Remember Yahoo will only banned people if they abuse the system and provide consistently poor answers. So as long as we stay on the right side of their terms of service and provide good quality answers we will have no trouble keeping our account.

The key to succeeding with Yahoo Answers is to find questions that we can answer and match with our website theme if we put the link to our website so people can look more nformation at our website
The benefits of Yahoo Answers are :
1) We gain traffic from people reading our answer
2) Our answer, if chosen as the best answer, will rank in the search engines and get traffic directly
3) We can get a backlink from our answer which will boost our sites rankings.
As Yahoo Answers is considered an authority site by the other search engines, having links from it are considered highly relevant and very beneficial.
We must do an advanced search to find the best questions to answer. Search only questions opened in the last 7 days with our keyword. This will give us the most relevant questions. Then we need to go through each question and find the ones we can answer properly.
In order to keep our account and to get voted as the best answer, we need to provide high quality answers. This means reading the question thoroughly and understand what is asked.
Start our answer with a greeting, e.g. “Hi there” or “Hi, thanks for your question”. This instantly makes our answer stand out from the others and will start to build a good relationship with the questioner.
Then provide our answer and sign off with something equally friendly such as “Hope this helps you out” and then sign out with our name.
We should only put our link in our answer directly if it has been asked for. Putting our link in every answer is likely to get our account banned. Our link needs to go in the resources box below. Don’t worry, it will get seen and clicked on, particularly if our answer is voted the best answer.
Yahoo Answers provides a very good method of generating targeted traffic to our website. It works well for most types of sites and some people earn decent money just from Yahoo Answers. Use it well and wisely and we can receive many benefits from it.

I had my Yahoo Answers account banned, explanation on sims2freedownloads.com but anyway, I still get traffic from there.
I had to do a special 404 error page to redirect the traffic from old Yahoo Answers questions to the new domain name as I was a top contributor for mainly for Sims 2 questions so people are still looking at those specific answers years later. Yesterday I received a best answer from a question I answered 3 years ago!
So it is worth to spend a bit of time. I have a new account now but I don’t have as much time but I always try to answer a few questions everyday.

Yahoo Answers is a great traffic source and you can get loads of traffic from that website, but the thing is, it converts REALLY low. Other than that, it’s great!

I like Yahoo answers as well. However, the fact that they do not allow anchor text is not great.

Using Yahoo Answer to get traffic is to semi-short term if you ask me. Sooner or later the question you answered will get buried, and you`ll just end up answering new questions over and over just to get traffic. Ranking in Google is far better.

Yahoo answers seems to give a nice instant jump in the SERP rankings, but IMO, it is short lived. However, Yahoo Answers is an authority site which can provide you with some very nice backlinks… just don’t SPAM!

I’ve had mixed results with Yahoo answers but I know of several marketers using it to generate enough traffic (with a little lateral thinking) to pull down a few hundred dollars a day with CPA offers. Fair game!

As you said here that we can get backlink from answering on yahoo answer, but as I know that yahoo answer provide dofollow backlink, so how it valuable for us? I can not understand that how yahoo rank on their search engine when I answer on yahoo answer.

My friend told me he had been answering yahoo and wikki questions for this very reason. At the time it didn’t sound very effective but I’m learning from this post that it probably is. Will have to start doing it myself.
