If I may add to this, as a marketer I would be keen on finding out how long the cookie is stored on users’s browser, most allow 90 days. Two more things that I look for in an affiliate program is whether it has multi-tier commissions and if there is a provision for long term / lifetime commissions. Most ebook/software products don’t have such an option but anything that requires subscription from buyers should offer a lifetime comission.

Excellent post describing affiliate tracking software. I think it would be nice if there was something the affiliate marketer could use to track sales on the affiliate sites. Really all I have is the exit link activity on my stat counter it would be nice if the tracking could tell if the visitor signed up or not. Absolutely true, such tracking softwares do really helps a lot, but do you think spam can really make their way inside it ? Since this is considered as the most oldest and trustfull way to publicate your market.

How much secure is it to really put wholehearted trust on it ?
